Worried about Wax Removal?

If you’re feeling nervous about ear wax removal, you’re not the only one. Many patients feel anxious before their first appointment, and it’s perfectly normal.

Over 18 years of working in audiology, I’ve heard the same questions again and again. I want to reassure you that your comfort is my priority from the moment you pick up the phone to long after your appointment ends.

Here are some of the questions that I am asked most often:

“Will it hurt?”

Most people are surprised at how gentle it can be. I take my time, explain each step, and go at your pace. You’ll be in a calm, quiet environment, and you can ask me to pause at any point.
I want to make the process as comfortable as possible. There can be slight discomfort if the wax is too hard, or is deep in the ear, but there should never be significant pain.

“What if I’m too nervous or fidgety?”

That’s completely okay. I schedule long appointments so we have plenty of time, we can proceed slowly, at just a step at a time.

If you need a moment to breathe, a break, or a chat about what’s happening, we’ll take it. There’s no rush, no pressure, and no judgment.

“Is it embarrassing?”

Absolutely not — even if it feels that way. Ear wax is natural and happens to everyone. In 18 years, I’ve seen every type of ear and every level of wax buildup, so there’s nothing in your ear that would surprise me.

My clinic is private, and you’ll be seen one-to-one, so you won’t feel exposed or rushed.

“Will I have to wait?”

No. I only book one patient at a time, in 45 minute intervals, so you don’t have to sit in a waiting room or watch the clock. Your appointment is entirely yours, and we’ll use that time to make sure you feel safe, comfortable, and fully informed.

“What if I have questions after the procedure?”

You can call me directly. You’ll never be passed to a receptionist or left waiting for someone else to get back to you. I’m happy to answer follow-up questions, check how you’re feeling, or give advice if needed.

“How do I know I can trust this will be done safely?”

I’ve spent 18 years working in audiology, supporting nervous and anxious clients just like you. I use proven, safe techniques, and I always explain exactly what I’m doing before I do it. If I don’t feel that it is safe to go ahead – I will tell you.

Your safety, comfort, and peace of mind are my top priorities.

Your comfort comes first

Feeling anxious is completely normal, and having questions doesn’t make you “difficult” — it makes you human. I created my clinic specifically to help nervous clients feel reassured, cared for, and in control.

From the moment you call, to the private, calm environment in the clinic, to the careful, patient procedure itself, everything is designed to put you at ease.

You can come as you are, ask any questions, take breaks, and know that your care continues even after you leave.

There’s nothing to be embarrassed about, nothing to rush, and no one here to judge you. Just patient, expert care at a pace that works for you.
